Pride Comedy with Jen Kober & Friends

Join us and start your San Diego Pride weekend with laughs from LGBTQ+ comedians and supporters.

The evening will be hosted by Frankie V, co-host of The Geena the Latina and Frankie V morning show on 93.3 FM in San Diego. Frankie is also heard nationally on over 20 stations across the country on iHeart radio.

Our headliner is the hilarious Jen Kober. Jen Kober is originally from Lake Charles, LA, and has energetically bounded onto the national stage bringing crowds to their feet with her original blend of stand-up, story telling, and improvised rock-n-roll comedy. Her hard-hitting hour is phenomenally funny as Kober commands the stage and dares you not to laugh. Jen was the 2017 Winner of NPR's Snap Judgement Comedic Performance of the Year for her Girl Scout Cookie Caper story which went viral upon its release earlier that year. Kober received the 2018 Comedic Performance of the Year for her story titled Nana Vs. OJ.

Jen appeared on Netflix in 2019 as she joined the cast of two of its original shows. Including RuPaul's sitcom AJ & The Queen and Dead to Me. Jen had audiences rolling in the aisles on The Righteous Gemstones on HBO, played a no-nonsense detective in The Purge on USA Network, and was a wacky science teacher in Diary Of A Future President on Disney+

Jen 's momentum continues with a recurring role on American Horror Story, a guest star on Showtime's Black Monday with Regina Hall and Don Cheadle, and a Season 2 regular on Apple TV's new queer sitcom, The Browns. Jen is also featured in Audible's Pride Special, Owning It.

Our feature comedian is Julian Fernandez. Julian is a non-binary, Latino comedian and impressionist from Los Angeles, CA. In 2019, Julian came out as non-binary. This means they don’t identify as a specific gender and prefers the pronouns They/Them. For example: “Let’s book THEM for our next show!” It’s that easy.

They started doing stand up at seventeen, mixing celebrity impressions and voices with observations and stories from their, not so, everyday life. Julian’s comedy has been featured on shows like, First Impressions with Dana Carvey, Laughs on Fox, and ESPN Sports Center. They’ve traveled all around the country performing at clubs, colleges, festivals, apartments, and other events like Kevin & Bean’s April Foolishness in 2017. Julian has even opened for comics like Taylor Williamson, Anjelah Johnson, Debra DiGiovanni, and more. With their chill and charming personality, audience can feel comfortable knowing they’re in for a great time.
