Preverbal Communication - Understanding & Support

This workshop aims to give an overview of the development of communication and interaction skills including the fundamentals of communication. It introduces strategies and direct interventions to support pre-verbal children to develop their early communication and interaction skills.

Aims:

• Understand typical development of social communication and interaction skills
• Develop an understanding of social communication and interaction differences in pre-verbal children
• Be aware of key strategies and interventions to support pre-verbal children to develop their communication and interaction skills
• Be aware of next steps and when / how to access support from Speech and Language Therapy

Ideal for:

Teachers and education support staff in Foundation stage, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2 settings who support pre-verbal children with Autism or Social Communication difficulties.

Please note: This course will be run as an online training session via Microsoft Teams. When you book, you will receive information about how to access the training and how the session will be run.

Please note that our training courses and workshops are designed to be interactive, to ensure participants get the most from the session. With this in mind, we ask that you check to ensure that both your camera and microphone are working prior to the course.

Each person attending the training needs to purchase an individual ticket. Several participants may join the training from the same device but each participant must have purchased an individual ticket. Additional participants who have not bought a ticket are not allowed to sit and watch the training, either in or out of the camera view, andwill be asked to leave.

• More than 2 weeks before the start date – no charge/full refund.
• Less than 2 weeks before the start date – full charge applies.

Transfer policy:

• You may transfer your place on a course to an alternative participant or to an alternative date at any time prior to the start date but please inform us of the change.
• Failure to attend a course will not entitle you to transfer to another course/date and neither will you be able to transfer your place to others.
