Please join the Preston Jackson family, Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe, and the Decatur City Council to formally dedicate Preston Jackson Park on Wednesday, October 12, from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
The event will start with the dedication ceremony. Food will be available for purchase from Vinnie's Barbee Q and there will be some live jazz music.
History: On June 20, 2022, the Decatur City Council passed a resolution naming the green space at 337 N Water Street after Decatur native and world-renowned sculptor Preston Jackson. The park already houses one of Jackson's sculptures honoring African American Civil War soldiers.
