About this Event
Current scholarship suggests that the school-to-Pr*son pipeline begins with inadequate resources in public schools, overcrowded classrooms, a lack of qualified teachers, insufficient funding, negligible community support, and zero-tolerance policies that impose severe punishments, which often lead to expulsion and, frequently, Pr*son. This program will explore the relationship between the inherent inequities in the public education system and integration following Brown v. Board of Education (1954) -- and how the legacy of the latter helped create the often-inequitable public education landscape that Black children and their families face today.
