The most famous lover of marmalade is undoubtedly Paddington Bear. You may well enjoy marmalade on your breakfast toast but there is nothing quite like making your own marmalade from Spanish Seville oranges. The name ‘marmalade’ is said to have originated in Portugal but the earliest recipe that included citrus fruits, was said to have been created by Eliza Cholmondeley in 1677.
Come and learn how to make your own jars of Seville orange marmalade to enjoy all year round. You will learn about the skill of preserving with sugar, the role of pectin, preparation of the marmalade ‘pulp’, setting point and bottling your marmalade.
A great skill to learn individually, with a friend or as a gift.
