Established in the early '80s in County Donegal by the talented frontwoman, fiddler, and singer Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and her late husband, Frankie Kennedy, Altan has been a prominent figure in traditional Irish music ever since. The globe-trotting band's remarkable sound has captivated audiences everywhere, from bars to the iconic Hollywood Bowl. Altan's music offers a compelling glimpse into the depth and richness of Irish heritage, from lively reels, jigs, and marches to exquisite ballads with refined arrangements. Mairéad and her bandmates Ciaran Curran (bouzouki), Mark Kelly (guitar), Dáithí Sproule (guitar), and Martin Tourish (accordion), infuse each performance with integrity, authenticity, and an open-hearted spirit.
