About this Event
Dear Listeners,
“All praise be to God to whom all praise is due. Let us pursue Him in the righteous path; yes, it is true: 'Seek, and ye shall find.' Only through Him can we know the most wondrous bestowal.”
- St. John Coltrane
Beloveds, we are seeking a great healing for humanity and the whole Earth and we know that there is healing and wholeness to be found in the Anointed Sound of St. John Coltrane, who said:
“If one of my friends is ill, I’d like to play a certain song and he will be cured; when he’d be broke, I’d bring out a different song and immediately he’d receive all the money he needed.”
We need healing in all areas of our lives: physical, emotional, political, financial, etc. Come out and pray with us, trusting in God to make the difference. Over the years and generations we have heard countless testimonies and witnessed for ourselves the dramatic healing power in this music. We invite you to bear witness with us and confirm for yourselves. “O taste and see that the Lord is good.”
We are exceedingly glad to announce that the St. John Coltrane A.O.C. Global Spiritual Community will celebrate our annual Ascension Day Vespers Song and Sound Praise Service at the historic Grace Cathedral on Friday, July 19th.
This event honors our patron Saint John Coltrane, marking the 57th anniversary of his passing on July 17, 1967, at 4:00 am. Additionally, we commemorate our 55th year of service as a nonprofit organization dedicated to propagating music, supporting local artists, and raising awareness of our human duty to make things better socially, politically, musically, and in any department of our lives.
This year we are honored to welcome Salim Washington on tenor sax, who will be our musical director for the service. He will be presenting some original music that will surely be wonderful! Also, Pearl Ubungen will be back to dance, as well as our ministers of tap from New York City, Megan Haungs and Toes Tiranoff. We are honored to have David Hardiman on trumpet, Destiny Muhammad on harp, Joe Warner on piano and many other illustrious artists.
Over the years, we have been committed to feeding people in need, helping homeless individuals, educating the youth, fighting for social justice, defending fair housing rights, and advocating for environmental justice.
We have served as cultural ambassadors and upheld the artistic purity of San Francisco, the United States, and within the global spiritual community.
Join us in this joyous celebration of faith, music, and community.
This is a people sponsored event and free to all. However, your donation is greatly appreciated.
