Class DetailsWhat to expect?
In this class, we'll be using curriculum provided by "Plumtree Baby". In addition to the curriculum the class will have additives drawn from our own personal and professional experiences in pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. We'll learn together through engaging and hands-on instruction. In this class, we will explore the following topics-
*Nutrition and exercise in pregnancy
*Choosing your care provider
*Choices in Birth
*Decision making tools for birth
*Stages of labor
*Normal birth process
*Cesarean birth
*Inductions
*Common interventions in birth
*Navigating challenges in birth
*Comfort measures
*Relaxation techniques
*Breastfeeding
*Preparing for and navigating postpartum
Instructors-
Deane Smith: Deane is a local to Hattiesburg. She is a wife to Justin and mom to 4. Deane has served mothers in a variety of ways since 2014. She is currently serving families in our area as childbirth educator, lactation counselor, and La Leche League Leader. Deane firmly believes that all parents should have access to evidence based education. She believes that parents should feel supported in their choices and should be given the appropriate tools in order to be successful in achieving their goals.
Whitney Hollingsworth: Whitney has served many Hattiesburg families as a doula and childbirth educator since 2017. In 2023, she relocated to the MS Gulf Coast, but continues to be involved in Hattiesburg birth work through HubCity Birth Collective classes and serving as a midwife's assistant with Hattiesburg Midwifery. She is a wife to Dustin and a mom to 4. Whitney's love for all things birth and motherhood began with her own personal experiences. In her first birth, she was awakened to how empowering birth can be and the value of being supported on that journey. Her experiences drive her passion for offering unbiased support to families throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
Logistics-
This is a one day class, 9 AM - 4 PM. Registration for this class closes on November 20, 2025. The cost of the class is $165 per couple. This fee will cover materials, light snack / lunch. To register for this class, please click the following link -

We do have a class size minimum of 3 couples. If we do not have 3 registered couples by the registration deadline, we will have to postpone the class till a later date.
