Course Description:
Prenatal yoga is a grounding and empowering practice that supports the physical, emotional, and energetic changes of pregnancy. Through mindful movement, breath awareness, and intentional rest, prenatal yoga helps build strength, ease discomfort, and create a deeper connection to self and baby. This practice encourages trust in the body’s innate wisdom while fostering steadiness, resilience, and calm throughout the perinatal journey.
Throughout the training, you will dive into:
- Anatomy and physiological changes during pregnancy
- Trimester-specific adaptations for safe and supportive movement
- Contraindications and essential safety considerations
- Breathwork for labor preparation, grounding, and emotional regulation
- Supportive and inclusive language
- Teaching prenatal postures with clarity and confidence
- Prenatal sequencing, themes, and practicum
- Prop support using bolsters, blankets, blocks, straps, and chairs
- Gentle postnatal movement for core recovery, stability, and rest
- Breathwork and relaxation techniques for the early postpartum period
- Integrating prenatal-friendly practices into mixed-level classes
About Your Teacher:
Willow Marcotte is a Yoga Alliance 500 hour E-RYT with expertise in Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga, and alignment as taught by BKS Iyengar. Her background in nursing compliments these practices which allows for a deep understanding of anatomy and body function. As owner of Sun Yoga Tampa, she sets the creative and philosophic tone for the studio fostering a welcoming and uplifting environment for devoted yogis.
