Prenatal Yoga Training
About this Event
Have ever felt unprepared when a pregnant person shows up in your class or felt like you didn’t know how to offer them the correct modifications to enjoy your class and also have a safe practice?
Whether you want prepare for the next time, or plan to teach prenatal yoga classes, this module will give you the confidence to do both!
Rebecca Henry, experienced prenatal yoga teacher and birth doula, will guide you through the ins and outs of pregnancy - not only understanding the external changes that come with it, but the internal, less obvious anatomical changes that are critical to understand when teaching the pregnant yogi.
Prenatal yoga is not a regular yoga class adapted for pregnant people. Pregnancy is a time when the body rapidly changes, and can leave one feeling like they no longer know or understand their body. Yoga is the perfect practice for pregnant people to help learn how to reconnect, day to day, with that changing body. In addition, prenatal yoga helps pregnant parents-to-be stretch, strengthen and release the muscles most easily affected by pregnancy as well as foster a greater understanding of what is happening with their bodies during pregnancy and childbirth.
In this training we will:
• Learn about what causes those changes and how they can affect one’s yoga practice
• Gain understanding about poses and sequences to help the student understand how to strengthen and move their bodies for pre- and postnatal health, inviting somatic awareness both on and off the mat
• Walk through individual poses that might present challenges and what modifications and alternatives you can safely offer them.
Prenatal yoga class is also a great place to contribute to a pregnant yogi’s understanding of childbirth and labor as well, so we’ll spend some time learning about the stages of labor and childbirth, leaving you feeling confident in answering their questions.
This 3-day training is part of Radiance Yoga's 300-hour teacher training program, however, it is open to all - you do not have to be enrolled in the program to attend. For more information on the 300-hour program please visit our website at www.radiance-yoga.net/300.
