Premodern Neurodiversity is a two-day symposium that explores the literary and cultural history of human neurological diversity: the fact that our minds naturally vary in how they work. Speakers will trace how different forms of cognitive, emotional, and sensory experience have manifested throughout history, prior to the formal development of neurodiversity theory in the late 20th century. The symposium is free of charge and open to the public; registration is required. It will take place on the ASU Tempe campus in Ross-Blakley Hall room 196.
Premodern Neurodiversity is coordinated by Associate Professor Bradley Irish and hosted by the Department of English, with additional support from the department's literature program as well as from the Humanities Institute and the humanities division of The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
