Fusing the essence of Indian ragas with jazz, funk, and global beats, ‘Prem Joshua & Band’ creates a musical experience that transcends cultural borders. With a distinct sonic persona that marries Indian rhythms to Moroccan grooves, jazz harmonies, and electronic elements, their sound – soulful, upbeat, provocative and pensive all at once – embodies the intersection of East and West. Helming this fusion of cultural influences is the multi-talented Prem Joshua, popular for his virtuosity on the sitar, flute, and saxophone. Besides his authentic flair, the inventive musician brings his years of training under Classical maestros and global musical exploration to the stage. Percussionist Raul Sengupta blends tabla with African and Latin percussion, while bassist Satgyan Fukuda holds the rhythm with reggae and ambient influences. Keyboardist Karim Ellaboudi infuses jazz and Classical touches, and vocalist Sukriti Sen adds a deep Hindustani Classical layer to the ensemble.
