Gift yourself time & space dedicated to you, your baby, and your birth. Together we will practice proven labor and birth prep techniques for your body, mind, and spirit: birth art creation, birth fear and vision exploration, nature immersion, maternal movement, breath, community & more. Leave grounded, resourced, and ready for labor, birth, & beyond.
When living life at modern day’s pace, it’s easy for a whole month, trimester, or even pregnancy to slip past your awareness without much fanfare. Marking the journey from prenatal appointment to appointment can leave depth and meaning to be desired as the systems within which our providers are operating don’t offer much time for connection, reflection, or integration. This isn't to say that one day retreat will fill all the gaps you might sense in how you’re currently traversing your pregnancy; but it certainly won’t make it worse. In fact, dedicating an entire day to be with your body, your baby, your community can make a world of a difference in mitigating feelings of dissociation or isolation that can sometimes plague us at life’s biggest thresholds. If you’re open to it, one day could change your life.
The content of our day together will weave inspiration from the book Birthing from Within by Pam England, CNM, and Rob Horowitz, PhD along with experiences, stories, and wisdom gathered by Nora, the retreat leader, as a birth and postpartum doula in Kalamazoo.
There will be an expectation to participate in community practices such as holding loving space for others and their experiences as well as offering as much of your own as you feel called to in the moment. With that said, all prompts, sharing circles, and activities are optional and participants may opt out at anytime without explanation or apology.
Activities might include: birth art creation, birth fear meditation, birth visioning, sharing circles, making tools for birth space, journaling, nature walks, somatic practices, and more.
Please bring a yoga mat, journal, writing utensil(s), altar item(s), and a water bottle. A nutritious lunch will be provided by a local restaurant/caterer who is TBD.
