Pre-Sustainability: The Ethics of Creation, A writing workshop with Ann Dingli

'Pre-Sustainability: The Ethics of Creation' is our next workshop and will be led by art and architecture writer Ann Dingli, who has been writing for Valletta Contemporary since the gallery's opening.
Her workshop will discuss the role of writing within wider cultural debate, and its enduring role as a critical tool. The workshop will take participants through examples of writing that build critical positions through contextual framing, factual rigour, and authorial clarity.
The workshop will be participatory, inviting attendees to write collectively on the topic of the ethics of building. The group will think and write around themes of extraction and development, examining the prelude to the debate on material sustainability and other urban ails.
Ann Dingli has been writing about the built environment for almost two decades, working as an independent journalist, critic and design writer. She regularly writes books, essays and articles on architecture, with work covering contexts from Accra to Copenhagen, New York and London. She writes regularly about Malta's changing environment, focusing on the relationship between identity and urbanity.
