Join us for an intimate gallery talk in our Pre-Raphaelite art galleries, where we’ll take a close look at three of Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s most famous works in DelArt’s collection: Lady Lilith, Found, and Veronica Veronese. Led by Alexandra Earl, DelArt’s Pre-doctoral Conservation Fellow, this discussion will explore Pre-Raphaelite painting techniques through the lens of art conservation. A recent graduate of The Courtauld Institute of Art’s painting conservation program, Alexandra will share insights into Rossetti’s methods and materials from a conservator’s perspective. Additional discussion topics will include the effects of 19th-century conservation practices, Rossetti's relationship with artist suppliers, and his choice of pigments, particularly Emerald Green, which was a highly toxic pigment used during the 19th century. We hope you’ll join us for this fascinating presentation!
