About this Event
PRE-PARADE FUNKY DOLL MAKING session- Doll-making has a long history in the Brigit tradition, especially with the Brídeóg, a doll made from straw to represent the Saint. These dolls were traditionally created on Brigit’s Day and paraded around the community. They were dressed in scraps of fabric and decorated with flowers or shells to resemble St. Brigid, who was often portrayed as a bride wearing a veil and cloak.
We’ll be making our very own modern versions, and we’d love for you to join us! It’s a wonderful chance to create your doll with the support of some fantastic artists and makers and then bring your doll along to the parade.
All materials we use will be reused or repurposed. If you have any fabric scraps, trimmings, or other small bits you’d like to contribute, please bring them along to add to your fabulous creation. The workshop will be guided by Tamara Fiabane from @toofabulousartandcrafts. Donations are welcome, however if you can't afford it come anyway …it will be fun activity.💚
Unfortunately due to the nature of the exhibition space this is not a child friendly workshops as its adult humor however, a wiser teen cool enough to get in the vibe with an even cooler guardian is most welcomed.
