About this Event

Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) First Aid Response – Blended Learning Course

Join Basic First Aid Solutions for the PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) course, formerly known as Occupational First Aid. This 18-hour programme meets Health and Safety Authority (HSA) requirements and is recognised by Tusla for childcare settings.

The course is delivered through a blended learning format, combining online study with practical classroom training. Participants must complete 9 hours of online theory through our learning platform before attending a 9-hour practical training session. Access to the online learning platform will be arranged approximately two weeks before the practical training date.

Upon successful completion of the online component, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion. A copy of this certificate must be presented on the day of the practical session to gain entry to the classroom training.

During the practical training day, participants will develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to assess and manage illness and injury until emergency medical services arrive.

Building on Cardiac First Response (CFR) skills, the course covers:

  • Patient assessment
  • CPR and AED use
  • Recognition and management of stroke
  • Choking emergencies
  • Heart attack and cardiac arrest
  • Common medical emergencies
  • Wound and injury management
  • Burns and scalds
  • Shock
  • Environmental emergencies

This highly practical and interactive course equips participants with the competence and confidence to respond effectively in emergency situations when every second counts.

Important Information

  • Participants must successfully complete the online component and present their Certificate of Completion on the day of the practical session.
  • A minimum of four participants is required for the course to proceed.
  • Refunds will only be provided if the minimum number of participants is not reached and the course cannot proceed.
