Join Shankara and Anne-Marie at AYM for a deep dive into the breath. A good balance between Asana, Pranayama & Meditation, we will see how our relationship with the breath supports all aspects of practice.

From the initial application, we will explore how this fundamental principle evolves along your journey.
Guide, protector, healer… there is so much potential.
Through dynamic movements and static moments, exercises specifically chosen to aid in understanding certain facets of the practice, we will gain a more clear understanding of the role of breath in the vinyasa practice.

THE THERAPEUTIC BREATH
Whether you’re dealing with an acute injury or simply an aging body, the breath can guide you along in your healing. We will develop trust, and understanding, why the breath encourages certain feelings and experiences… and exploration in sometimes unexpected zones.
Breath being the central principle of the yoga process, having faith enough to follow will help you with what you are dealing with now, and continue to do so as more presents itself in the future.

CLASS
A led practice guided in simplicity where breathing is a constant presence. We will keep the postures simple, accessible and yet connected to a deeply satisfying work.

SEATED PRANAYAMA
Seated pranayama and the meditative quality of Vinyasa
We will discuss and explore what we can of the bigger picture of the Ashtanga Practice, the 8 Limbs, different sights and experiences that come along the way…
And, of course, how breath is tied into each and every one of those steps.

Such a simple concept, but what are the lessons?
Sometimes the smallest details can initiate the greatest transformation in your experience and in how the practice develops.
We will go through a wide range of postures to identify the common points in how the breath can reveal where to place your efforts, and gain a clear picture of the current state of your body, giving direction to your next step on this beautiful journey.
