“𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙀𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙞𝙖𝙛 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙩𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙗. 𝙅𝙚 𝙣𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙖𝙮 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣.”
Pramkicker is a hard-hitting, hilarious two-hander about rage, reproductive expectations, and the messy, can’t-live-without-you bond of sisterhood. It opens with Jude at anger management, and her sister Susie popping along for moral support (while harbouring secrets of her own). What follows is a comical, rage-fuelled, gin-soaked ride through relationship breakdowns, family baggage, trauma, and the enormous pressure to want the right things in the right order at the right age.
Sadie Hasler’s play is a defiant middle finger to the life script. It isn’t about whether you have children or not. It’s about the pressure to want them. The shame in not wanting them. And the frustration that comes from being told to smile through all of it.
This is a show for sisters, parents, friends, those who “just know” they don’t want kids, and those who are on the fence. It speaks to anyone who questions the expected gender path, and to women who just need to punch something.
