Practical Strength & Conditioning for Rehab Professionals (Bratislava)

This practical 2-day workshop is designed to enhance the strength and conditioning skills of rehab professionals. Participants will learn lifting techniques, including progressions and regressions, athletic development drills, speed, repeated sprint and aerobic testing and training protocols. A key outcome of this course is the ability to write programs, including daily and weekly schedules to optimize training adaptations, when loading ‘around’ injured tissues.

Program Description

Day 1

(8:30am-9:00am): Participants registration

(9:00am-10:00am): Load-Response for Tissues and Systems

(10:00am-11:00am): Conducting a Needs Analysis

(11:00am-12:00pm): Return-to-Sport Progressions

(12:00pm-1:00pm): Lunch Break

(1:00pm-2:00pm): Programming Speed and Agility

(2:00pm-5:00pm): Athletic Development Drills, Speed, & Repeated-Sprint

Day 2

(9:00am-10:00am): Developing Load Capacity in Adolescent Athletes

(10:00am-12:00pm): High-Intensity Aerobic Testing & Training

(12:00pm-1:00pm): Lunch Break

(1:00pm-2:00pm): Dose-Response for Specific Physical Qualities

(2:00pm-5:00pm): Developing a Training and Monitoring Plan

Target Audience

This workshop is relevant to physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, and physical therapy students, chiropractors, strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, and sport coaches.

Methods of Learning

This workshop uses a combination of lectures, focus groups, roundtable discussion, practical sessions, formal and informal question and answer sessions to enhance learning.

However, as some of these activities involve strenuous physical activity (within your individual capacity), participants will be required to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) and informed consent.
