Practical Pistol 1 is a performance-driven course focused on building and refining the core mechanics of pistol shooting. This is not an intro class—it is designed for shooters who already understand basic gun handling and want to develop a repeatable, accountable foundation for higher-level performance or competition.
Rather than learning fundamentals for the first time, students will pressure-test their existing skills through structured drills and measured feedback to refine their grip, trigger control, vision, and weapon manipulations.
TOPICS INCLUDED:
- Grip construction and recoil management
- Trigger control and follow-through under pressure
- Sight picture and vision discipline
- Efficient draw stroke and building index
- Reloads (emergency and speed)
- Malfunction clearing (stovepipes, double feeds, etc.)
- Cadence control and shot accountability
- Strong Hand Shooting
- Introduction to effective dry-fire
Students will leave with a solid, tested foundation of technical pistol shooting and the ability to diagnose and develop their own performance. This course prepares shooters for Practical Pistol 2.
EQUIPMENENT NEEDED:
- Serviceable semi-automatic pistol (9mm or larger caliber) and at least three magazines
- Until further notice, the P320 and all its variants are currently not permitted in Green Ops classes.
- Quality belt with strong side holster and at least 1 magazine pouch
- Serpa holsters or similar holsters that use the trigger finger to deactivate a retention device are NOT allowed
- Be able to retain 2 magazines on your body
- 500 rounds of dependable ammunition (minimum). No steel core, no armor piercing, no tracer.
- Knee pads (optional, but recommended – range surface is rocky gravel)
- Water for hydration
- Eye protection, hearing protection (electronic recommended) and baseball cap.
