About this Event
This is limited to Pittsburgh Public School students, teachers and their families. It is specifically focused on Chemistry.
There is so much Chemistry in Astronomy!
We are constantly splitting light into spectra to understand more about the universe.
Join us for an introduction to how astronomers use Chemistry to study the atmospheres of exoplanets, the composition of stars, the structure of the universe and more! We will also tour the historic Allegheny Observatory and if the weather is clear, look at Jupiter with the 13" telescope.
This is restricted to members of the Pittsburgh Public School community and their families. Some teachers are offering extra credit for attendance.
If you are driving north on 279 and exit for Hazlett st., do NOT turn left on Milroy. Continue straight and your GPS will reroute to a safter road.
Park on the right hand side of the road that loops around the observatory. The first floor, where the talk and part of the tour will take place is handicapped accessible, but the domes are not.
Please email [email protected] with any questions.
