About this Event
One of our strategic objectives this year for the Psychological Professions is to develop and strengthen our trauma informed and compasssionate culture. We are having two CPD events focusing on culture, the first of which was focussed on compassion and the second will be on trauma informed care.
The focus of this event will be on trauma informed cultures and we will have speakers from NHS education for Scotland who have been leading the way within the UK on developing trauma informed organisations. The National Trauma Transformation Programme in Scotland has created a new roadmap for creating trauma informed and responsive change: Guidance for organisations, systems and workforces. You can access the roadmap at Roadmap for Creating Trauma-Informed and Responsive Change | NHS (scot.nhs.uk)
We will also be showcasing trauma informed initiatives taking place within Sussex and will provide plenty of opportunities for attendees to consider how they can take forward their learning and implement ideas locally.
If you are not familiar with Trauma Informed Care there are two short videos that summarise how staff can adapt their ways of working to make a positive difference to people in the workplace affected by trauma and adversity. The first video titled Opening Doors: Trauma Informed Practice for the Workforce has an adult focus and the second video titled Sowing Seeds: Trauma Informed Practice is for Anyone Working with Children and Young People.
The approach we are taking in SPFT, is that trauma informed care is for everyone - staff and service users, carers and their families.
