This month, our guest speaker is:

Katie Hughes

Katie Hughes is the founder of Girls Build, a program in which girls ages 8 to 15 learn the basics of a variety of trades, including carpentry, metalwork, and electrical. These young women use power tools, follow designs, and build skills and confidence.

Katie is also the author of , a book that celebrates these young women and working in the trades.

POWERdrinks monthly meet-ups provide a welcoming and casual opportunity to meet peers, share ideas and opportunities, and educate colleagues about projects and initiatives of interest to the group. We welcome women (including women of transgender experience) and individuals who identify as female, femme, non-binary, gender expansive, transgender, or a representative of a marginalized gender. All people working in a field related to energy, solar, or other renewables and interested in building a more diverse energy sector, are invited, as are students and developing professionals who are looking for perspectives on joining the clean energy sector.

POWERpnw is a program of the Oregon Solar Energy Education Fund (OSEEF) that is focused on building a community of individuals who identify as female and/or gender diverse in energy and renewables and increasing inclusiveness through initiatives around workforce development, community building, and empowerment.
