About this Event
Power to the People: Understanding Your Home’s Electrical System (classroom)
Starting out with how electricity comes in to your house, and ending at the light bulb and outlet, we will go over how wiring works, and why sometimes it doesn’t. We will examine different wiring methods found in older homes and learn to recognize which projects you might attempt on your own, and which you shouldn’t. Changing a switch, changing a light fixture—some say it’s easy. Is it really? The class will be a combination of show and tell, hands-on learning, and information you can take home to minimize some of the hazards you may have in your home.
Peg Preble has been working as a licensed electrician in the Boston area for more than 20 years. Previously, she was an auto mechanic, which is where she discovered her love of wiring. Peg specializes in older houses.
Saturday, September 28th, 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
