The global transition towards sustainable energy systems and smart grid technologies demands advanced tools for system modeling, analysis, and optimization. Shaping the future of Bangladesh's power industry therefore requires leadership, smart planning, and well-designed policies.
To bridge the gap between energy policy, intelligent technology, youth-driven innovation, and the corporate sector, the 𝐈𝐄𝐄𝐄 𝐍𝐒𝐔 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 & 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 (𝐏𝐄𝐒) 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫, in collaboration with the IEEE NSU Student Branch, IEEE NSU Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) Student Branch Chapter, IEEE NSU Industry Applications Society (IAS) Student Branch Chapter, IEEE NSU Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), North South University, is organizing the 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 & 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭 (𝐏𝐏𝐈𝐒). This interactive national event brings together students, young innovators, industry leaders, experienced professionals, and policymakers from all over the country to collaborate, learn, and innovate with Bangladesh's energy landscape in mind.
This multi-stage summit began with a nationwide Campus Ambassador Recruitment, which has been completed, and the selected ambassadors have been announced. It also included a series of expert-led sessions on power problem framing, policy analysis, research, abstract writing, poster design, presentation, and pitching. The summit day features keynote sessions, an informative high-end panel discussion on power policy, and an interactive quiz competition with a prize pool of 5,000 BDT. At its center is the Grand Finale of the 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞, which carries a prize pool of 65,000 BDT.
The challenge will be held in several rounds, with teams proposing solutions to connect rural and community grids with microgrids. Teams first submit an abstract, and the top teams advance to the next round, where they will tackle intensive, real-world problem-solving and presentation challenges. Finally, the top 5 teams will compete in the Grand Finale, where they will present, justify, and defend their proposed solutions before industry experts and researchers. Their ideas, key findings, and solutions will be evaluated on how well they reduce CO₂ emissions and fossil fuel dependence, and how well they promote affordable energy solutions and community participation.
The Power Policy & Innovation Summit will help students, young innovators, emerging researchers, and aspiring sustainable development enthusiasts from across the nation connect with industry leaders, academic professionals, and government policymakers. Students will also gain hands-on experience in applying academic knowledge to economically viable, technical, and scalable energy models, and key insights into bridging technological innovation with practical, research-based, and policy-oriented solutions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Power Policy & Innovation Summit is an opportunity to connect and collaborate with like-minded people, learn directly from industry leaders and academic experts, and bring your ideas to the world. Don't miss this chance to learn more about power and policymaking and become a part of something new!
