About this Event
Thursday evenings 18:30-21:30, 10 October - 14 November.
Do you spend most of your time
“doing more”
in order to
“be more”?
Do you give yourself a hard time when you
“miss the mark”?
So do we! (sometimes)
The Power of Self Esteem helps us see what makes us behave in these ways, and offers us some tools to live our lives differently.
Self-esteem is our idea of our own basic worth, and it has its roots in our childhood. Early on, our sense of value is associated with the positive regard of others or linked with our achievements. We may accomplish much in later life, yet still feel dissatisfied because our self-esteem, our sense of our own worth or value, still depends on our achievements; our success or failure. It need not be like this!
The Power of Self Esteem will transform the way you express yourself in the world. Instead of struggling to deal with unconscious demands about the way you ought to be, you become free to be as you are. And, as you learn to distinguish true self-esteem from the endless cycle of reward and punishment to which it has become attached, you will connect more deeply with what you really want for yourself and your life, and start to express yourself with a new kind of passion and power.
The Power of Self Esteem is an experiental course, over six Thursday evenings. You will be in a small group of people (up to around a dozen) who will be exploring their Self Esteem with you, guided by your Facilitators Ian and Colin. You can share as much or as little of your life and experiences as you like, and learn from other people's sharing. During the six weeks we will teach you and help you practise a number of practical tools which you can take away and use whenever you notice your Self Esteem slipping, or when you want to help it grow. Audio material summarises each session, so you can continue to apply what you have learned long after the course is over.
If you engage in Continuing Professional Development, this course counts for 18 CPD hours. You will receive a certificate after we receive your completed post-course evaluation.
This course forms part of The More To Life Programme.
