Of all the adventurous things the rock band known as Ween has done over their career, recording a straight-up country album with legendary Nashville session musicians was probably the most surprising.” Powder Blue pays homage to Ween’s “12 Golden Country Greats”, featuring a medley of Salt Lake’s best musicians, spearheaded by a 4 piece core that explores other alternative-rock covers, classic (and not-so-classic) honky tonk, and funky originals.
The evening begins with a short set of original music from J-Rad Cooley’s Cajun Cowboys (a slimmed down honky-tonk blues combo), followed by Powder Blue, which evolves from its rock & roll core to a full-blown 10-piece outfit accompanied by fiddle, steel guitar, keys, harmonica, and more.
Artists include (but are not limited to): Michelle Moonshine (guitar/vox), John Davis (guitar/vox), Nik Grainger (bass/vox), Dave Idan (drums/vox), J-Rad Cooley (harmonica/vox), Juliette Camille (fiddle), Greg Midgley (keys), Dylan Schorer (pedal steel), and special guests Rick Gerber, Morgan Snow, Sarah DeGraw, Kirk Dath, Jeremy Whitesides, Matt Calder, Joshua McCune, Daniel Young, Jerry Cochran, and more.
Brace yourself for crude lyrics, ripping solos, and timeless classics as we celebrate one of the greatest country albums of all time.
