Workshop Description: In this two days hands-on workshop we will learn ways to hand-build rustic and organic forms, explore different ways to create rustic surfaces using slips, dry clays and sodium silicate. We will make bowls and plates with organic edges and also delve into kurinuki carving to make asymmetrical pieces like ikebana vases, rock bowls. We will discuss glazing techniques that would help enhance the rustic look in cone 6 oxidation.

Basic hand-building experience will be helpful but not necessary.

Students can leave their work to be fired by Concho Clay and pick it up later, or take it home to continue working on it. For additional access to the studio, students can sign up for a day pass, an open studio pass, or a workshop that includes open studio access for an additional fee,

There will be a one-hour lunch break; students are responsible for their own lunch.
