Explore the Raku firing process on pieces of pottery you make! Students in this beginner-intermediate, 2-part workshop will learn and use techniques for building, choosing clays, surface preparation methods, and more.
Each participant will make several pieces to fire in multiple Raku processing like reduction glazing or Feather and horse hair raku. This is a 2-part workshop; the first session will be spent learning about the processes involved and creating raku-ready wares. Projects will then be dried and bisque fired by our instructors.
The second part of your 2-part workshop will take place during one of Catalyst's monthly First Saturday Open House events, where you and Casey will raku fire your work in our parking lot. The First Saturday event you attend should be at least 2 weeks after the first part of your workshop (for bisque firing), but the open house event you choose to attend is up to you--the raku firing is held during every month's First Saturday event!
