POTTERY 101: DIY Clay Ornaments

Jillian Jensen Creative is proud to introduce you to the CREATE Workshop series!

CREATE workshops: Craft. Relax. Experiment. Aspire. Tinker. Explore.

In this beginner-friendly class, you'll learn the fundamentals of handbuilding, including rolling, cutting, and assembling clay to form a beautiful handmade ornaments! We'll explore techniques for adding decorative details and finishing your piece. During this class, you will:

1️⃣ Roll and shape clay to form ornament shape you want. You can free sculpt or roll slabs and use cookie cutters. 2️⃣ Properly attach and smooth the clay for a seamless look.3️⃣ Use tools to customize the piece and add detail. 4️⃣ Choose a glaze color to personalize your piece.

You will receive 1lb of stoneware clay for this class. This amount of clay will make 3-4 ornaments (or more!).

Your finished pieces will be glazed, fired, and ready for pickup in 7-10 days—we’ll notify you when it’s ready! Please note: the goal is to have all of these finished and in your hands before the Christmas holiday! This class would be a great chance to create some beautiful handmade gifts for family and friends!
