The premise of Cubmobile is classic Scouting fun at its finest: your Cub Scout and parent builds a soapbox derby-style car that the Cub Scout can drive. Then they race it as many times as possible during their time slot!
Win some, lose some. What could be better? Cars race two at a time, as often as time allows, on a closed, gently sloped course at the Evanston Civic Center. It’s a great way to spend an autumn Sunday with your Pack.
We recommend that each den build its own Cubmobile. Building and painting your car(s) is a great team activity that can be performed outdoors and allows for distance between den members. Cubmobiles can be as simple or spectacular as your den wishes, but they MUST have a seat, seat belt, brake, and steering mechanism.
Cars take about four hours to build, less in a pinch. Parts are easily obtained and need not be expensive or elaborate.
Late and Walk-Up registration is allowed, but the late fee does apply.
FOR EVERYONE'S HEALTH AND SAFETY:
Race Sessions are scheduled every 60 minutes which allows for up to 50 minutes of racing and 10 minutes of setup, with a maximum of 50 Cub Scouts per session.
Each Scout MUST Have their own helmet and facial covering. No Helmet, no ride; no mask, no ride. NO EXCEPTIONS. Scouts will be given hand sanitizer at the end of each of their runs down the course as an additional precaution.
All spectators are required to wear a face covering while they are in the event area.
All volunteers must wear a face covering while in the event area and must sanitize their hands between time slots.
For health reasons, we are unable to provide helmets or Cubmobiles as has been done in the past.
