The Potomac Playmakers proudly announce auditions for the first show of the historic 100th Anniversary Season, the Broadway smash musical hit “Come From Away!” Based on the true story of the time the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland played host to the world, “Come From Away” tells the compelling story of how for five days in 2001 the small town played host to over 7,000 displaced airline passengers in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. What develops over that time is the fostering of unexpected friendships, compassion, and resilience amidst global fear.
“Come From Away,” with music, book, and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, is licensed by Music Theatre, International. “Come From Away” will be directed by Cathy James with Susan Kleit, with music direction by Janet Palmer. Auditions for “Come From Away” will be held on June 15, 2026 and June 16, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. at the Potomac Playmakers Performing Arts Center, located at 17303 W. Washington Street, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740. Those interested in auditioning will need to reserve a time slot by signing up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0C4CACAE28A7FE3-63485373-come#/ . Due to the anticipated turnout for auditions, NO WALK-INS WILL BE ACCEPTED! Anyone auditioning must sing 32 bars of a song a cappella that is not featured in the show. The audition will further consist of cold readings from the script. Video auditions will be accepted up until June 15, 2026, and must be sent to [email protected]. For the necessary audition forms, please send an inquiry to [email protected]. In addition to the music portion, the email must also include the performer's resume' detailing performance/show background, special skills, and all conflicts from June 17, 2026 through September, 2026. Performers of all ages, races, and genders/identities are encouraged to audition. The show will run September 11-13, 2026 and September 18-20, 2026, in commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
