If you can't bring any food to share, don't worry, we'll have plenty!
Saya will take home all our creations and fire them in the kiln. We will have another gathering on Wednesday 4/29 at 6pm where people can glaze/add color to their creations. Then they get put in the kiln again, and people will be able to pick up creations from the 350 Tacoma Community Hub while open for events over the next month.

Saya Shoth, owner of Chubsydragon Creations, began teaching ceramic handbuilding in 2015. They believe that clay should be accessible to all people, as it is one of humanity's oldest creative materials, and a key building block of civilization, the access to which is unfortunately becoming increasingly gatekept today. Saya strives to undo that gatekeeping, in whatever small ways they can. Clay is love, clay is life! "For me, sculpture is more than an art form. It is a connection to my ancestry, to history, and to the earth itself. It is an extension of my mind, imagination and dreams. The pieces I create are not perfect. They take a bit of me. I'm odd and I'm memorable, I love myself, and I love my work. Through my pieces I express my joy, my hopes, all of my experiences over the continuing course of my existence. Each piece is a piece of me, and when people see my work, I hope that they can feel a bit of the life I have put into it, and smile. When I teach, I hope others are inspired to put some of themselves into their creations as well, and love their perfect imperfections as we love ourselves. Reaching through the clay to clasp hands with all who came before us, and sending our creations out into the future, so our descendants might see them and remember that we are all one."
