About this Event

Good posture conveys confidence and personal power, but the benefits go far beyond looking good to these benefits and more. And the risks of not addressing bad posture are far more than cosmetic issues.

In this lecture we'll delve into the essential foundations for good postural support, including:
Why posture matters: The critical relationship between the spine, breath, and deep abdominal core muscle.
How bad posture contributes to chronic pain and can actually alter your spine and affect your longevity.
How posture can impact issues as diverse as breath capacity, vitality, resilience, chronic pain issues, even cognition, memory and mental acuity
* Chronic pain issues including headaches, back, shoulder, and neck pain
* A quick way to assess your postural habits
* Quick techniques to sprinkle throughout the day to encourage effective postural support.

Lynn Crimando, MA, C-IA YT serves as a lead teacher and teaching mentor for YogaUOnline's Wellness Educator and Advanced Teacher Training Programs. She is a yoga teacher, board-certified Health and Wellness Coach, and C-IAYT Yoga Therapist. Her NASM certifications include Certified Personal Trainer, Senior Fitness Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and Balance Training. In addition, Lynn is a Buteyko Breathing Practitioner and a mentor in Robin Rothenberg's Restore Your Prana training. She maintains a private Yoga Therapy and Health Coaching practice in New York City and teaches classes throughout the city on behalf of Health Advocates for Older People.

In The Sanctuary is an annual cultural events series underwritten by Rutgers Presbyterian Church.

In addtion to afternoon wellness workshops, we offer film, music, art, dance and storytelling on select Tuesday evenings throughout the year.

Most of our events are free, or offer a cash donation option to various charitable organizations.
