About this Event

Course Description: This live interactive course will focus on the specific healing timeframes for commonly seen orthopedic post-operative conditions involving ligaments, tendons, cartilaginous, neural structures, and bone while understanding the impact of physiological stress on plan of care management and exercise rehabilitation. The course will focus on the substantiated literature for managing pre-operative, and post-operative patient management including assessment of physiological vital signs in stress, sleep, nutrition, hydration, medications, cardiovascular system, and comorbid conditions. A combination of lecture and lab, small group case study, and plan of care development skills will ultimately lead to well-informed care decisions and enhanced patient outcomes. This course will discuss exercise progressions from post-operative day to wellness management as described by patient and therapist shared decision making in goals.

Self-Study Course Information:

Course Description: This is a hybrid course designed to integrate physiological processes with tissue healing to be able to manage dynamic plan of care management for patients recovering from post operative care. The purpose of this course will be to understand the contributions of stress, sleep, nutrition, hydration, bed rest, medications, and metabolic syndrome. This content can be used to inform current practice about managing different loads of resistive exercise, mobilization, cardiovascular conditioning and manual therapy for physical therapists currently managing cases. Recordings will review most impactful physiological processes for tissue healing that will begin to inform clinical decision making over the course of a plan of care. The primary focus will be bringing those ideas directly in to patient intervention with education for optimal outcomes for that individual within a treatment session, week and total plan.
