The Story Behind the Music
The journey began when Amsterdam-based duo Hassie Dune & Ania Brzezińska (Couple Positive Uplifting) immersed themselves deeply into the Kolkata music scene. From authentic collaborations and late-night jam sessions emerged a fresh, evocative repertoire that honors the depth of Indian classical sound while pushing into experimental territories.
For this special night, they are sharing the stage with three world-class virtuosos, transforming our space into a playground for cross-cultural expression.
Meet the Lineup!
Sumanth Manjunath (IND) | Violin & Vocals
Representing the illustrious fourth generation of the Mysore violin lineage, Sumanth is a young virtuoso standing at the vanguard of India’s classical tradition. His playing radiates both profound structural depth and daring, modern sensibilities.
Saradindu Adhikary (IND) | Tabla & Vocals
A highly accomplished classical singer and master of rhythmic cycles (tala), trained in the rigorous North Indian classical traditions. Known for his ability to seamlessly cross boundaries and converse with global musical forms.
Ned McGowan (USA/NL) | flutes
A renowned flautist and composer who brilliantly blurs the lines between Western classical precision and the freedom of experimental jazz.
Couple Positive Uplifting (NL/PL)
Ania Brzezińska: A jazz-trained trumpetist and percussionist with a deep-rooted appreciation for South Indian rhythmic techniques.
Hassie Dune: A sound-shaper who brings the earthy, vibrant textures of the electro N'goni (African harp), handpan, loops, and ambient effects to the musical brew.
