I’m excited to facilitate the Positive Discipline in the Classroom Certification Training on November 13–14 at Forest Park I.E. School in Joliet, IL!
The thing I love most about Positive Discipline is how it shifts the way we think about student behavior. Instead of focusing only on correcting behavior, we learn how to build connection, teach important life skills, and create classrooms where students feel a sense of belonging and significance.
It’s not about having all the answers or finding the perfect strategy for every situation. It’s about understanding kids better, building relationships, and giving educators practical tools they can use every day.
I’m especially excited that this training will take place at Forest Park I.E. School, a National School of Character whose emphasis on responsibility, respectfulness, resourcefulness, and responsiveness aligns beautifully with the heart of Positive Discipline.
And here's something I think we don't talk about enough: teacher burnout.
Teachers are carrying so much. What if, instead of working harder to manage every behavior, solve every problem, and keep every ball in the air, we empowered students to take on more of that responsibility themselves?
Positive Discipline helps teachers shift from doing for students to teaching students how to do for themselves. Imagine students taking greater ownership, solving problems, contributing to their classroom community, and becoming more independent.
The result? Less burden on the teacher, more capable and confident students, and a classroom that's more sustainable for everyone.
This isn't about adding more to a teacher's already-full plate. It's about finding a better way to teach, lead, and build relationships, one that leaves teachers feeling energized, supported, and reminded of why they chose this profession in the first place.
