Learn how to paint a vibrant and expressive portrait in acrylic. This workshop will be focused on helping you gain knowledge and confidence in how to approach portrait painting through understanding facial proportions, mixing skin tones, layering paint to create depth, and much more.
There will be some preparation work before you begin painting.

Titanium White
Unbleached White
Ultramarine Blue
Cerulean Blue
Alizarin
Cadmium Red
Camium Yellow or similar
Australian Sienna (by Matisse) or Red Gold (by Atelier)
Burnt Sienna
Yellow Ochre
Burnt Umber
Canvas: There’s no limit, but bring at least one canvas.
Size 30 x 40cm, OR 40 x 40cm OR 40 x 50cm
*The canvas usually comes primed with three coats of gesso, but give it another coat tinted with very pale burnt sienna.
Paper:
Mixed media paper or heavy cartridge for sketching and painting exercises
Palette:
A tear-off paper palette or a “Stay-Wet” palette.
Brushes:
A mixture of flat synthetic and bristle, sizes from 1 - 3cm
A round brush for details.
Paper towel, rag and pencil
