Portovino Italian Wine Dinner: Off the Beaten Path
Thursday, June 4, 2026 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Off the Beaten Path in Italy...
This meal with tasty drinks is a "wine dinner" per se, but was ultimately created to be as accessible as possible, with high quality wines offered alongside thoughtfully prepared dishes, course by course.
Hosted by Scott Lefler, Porto Vino
"The wines I am VERY excited to present come from a passion project: a wine import company built by forming trusted relationships with small, traditional, and largely organic producers throughout Italy. These wines are made by organic farmer-producers, two in the North of Italy, and two from the largest islands in the Mediterranean: Sardinia and Sicily. The styles and varieties used are perhaps a step away from the most ubiquitous, so storytime is included with the meal!
Come sit for a meal amongst friends that is more earnest adventure than wine dinner!"

Reception & Passed Hors d'oeuvres
Blueberry Goat Cheese Tart
Rolled Smoked Duck Slice with Pecan & Pepper Jelly
Pear & Blue Cheese Brûlée
NV, Azienda Agricola Denny Bini “Festa” dell’Emilia IGP Rosso, Lambrusco, Emilia-Romagna
"Bubbles in a red wine? Perhaps the biggest underdog of sparkling wine at the moment is Lambrusco. Overshadowed in its home region by Parmigiano Reggiano, balsamic vinegar of Modena, and more great edibles, this is a festive and DRY wine made by a native son redefining what top quality is for such a traditionally whimsical wine."
1st Course
Grey Sole, Lemon Beurre Blanc, Crisped Mushrooms, Chervil
2023 Frecciarossa “Sillery” Bianco, Oltrepò Pavese Pinot Nero, Lombardia
"Pinot Noir (Nero) doesn't scream Italy, but when produced for over one hundred years by five generations of a family, it is TRADITION. This polyculture estate is its own Shire, with hazelnut and fruit trees, wheat and alfalfa, honeybees, cows, sheep, and chickens weaving amongst vineyards in view of the Alps on a clear day. We'll showcase a charmingly fresh and floral Pinot Noir they have made as a white wine since 1930!"
2nd Course
Tomato Oregano Pomodoro, Roasted Grape Tomatoes, Homemade Tagliatelle, Grated Parmesan, Fried Basil
2024 Mortellito Rosso Terre Siciliane, Frappato, Sicilia
"In the hands of renaissance man Dario Serrentino, a spearfisherman and prized almond farmer, [ this wine ]sees no oak and is a silver bullet for a summer table; chill it, serve it with fish or pasta, this will make you happy!"
3rd Course
Braised Leg of Lamb, Grilled Artichokes, Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Lamb Jus, Crispy Rosemary
2020 Cardedu “Caladu” Cannonau di Sardegna, Sardegna, Italy
"Fourth-generation producer Serge Loi makes wine from the superstar Mediterranean variety found in no other region of Italy: Cannonau. Grenache's alias in Sardinia, this is a wine to sink your teeth into, though it may growl back at you. It is grown amongst ragged granite and schist cliffs in the southeast of the island, yet with a sea view!"
4th Course
Margeaux’s Beignets, Nutella Sauce, Strawberry Jam
