Saturday, July 25, 2026 — we’re rolling down Portland sea wall to the Portlandia Mermaid Parade & Festival at the beautiful Downtown Waterfront for a fun, colorful, and wonderfully whimsical day!
The parade kicks off at the Japanese American Historical Plaza (part of Tom McCall Waterfront Park) and celebrates all things mermaid, sea creatures, and ocean joy. Expect creative costumes, live music, community energy, and a festive procession along the river — it’s a free, family-friendly event full of creativity and Portland spirit.
Dress up like a mermaid or sea creature and roll with us! Because let’s be real — all mermaids need the use of wheelchairs on land 🧜♀️💙 We’ll meet up, find a good accessible spot to watch the parade and festival activities, and enjoy the lively atmosphere together at our own relaxed pace. Come as a glittering mermaid, friendly octopus, colorful fish, or any ocean friend you like — the more sparkle and creativity, the better!
Date: Saturday, July 25, 2026�Time: 11:00 PM Noon to 4:00 PM (Parade & Festival window)�Meeting Spot: Japanese American Historical Plaza / Tom McCall Waterfront Park — SW Naito Parkway & SW Pine Street area, Portland, OR 97204 (look for the event gathering near the plaza and waterfront path)�Terrain: Paved waterfront paths and plaza areas — mostly flat and wheelchair accessible with some crowd considerations. Plenty of open viewing space along the route.
Public Transportation Options (TriMet makes it super easy!):
* Take the MAX Blue, Green, or Red Line to the Skidmore Fountain or Oak/SW 1st Ave stops — right in the heart of the waterfront area.
* Several bus lines (including 1, 8, 12, 19, etc.) also serve the Downtown Transit Mall and waterfront.
* From the MAX/bus stop, it’s a short, accessible roll along the paved paths to the Japanese American Historical Plaza and parade starting area. Use the TriMet trip planner for exact connections.
* Limited street parking nearby, but public transit is highly recommended due to crowds and event closures.
This is a free community event (first come, first served for prime viewing spots), so come early if you want a great vantage point!
