PORTALS at Populus
Tulsi: Nectar → Bloom
A Residency Opening
Friday, January 24 | Populus Hotel & Firn
Populus is a living structure — rooted in nature, shaped by intention, and designed for presence.
Portals arrives here as a residency because this building understands what we’re practicing: slowing down, listening deeply, and gathering with care.
Our opening Portal honors Tulsi (Holy Basil) — the Elixir of Life — a sacred plant ally known for calming the nervous system, strengthening resilience, and restoring balance between body, breath, and spirit.
This evening unfolds as a gentle initiation into the Portals residency: a ritual of arrival, connection, and embodied remembrance — held within the architecture, art, and atmosphere of Populus.
The night moves through Nectar → Bloom, inviting you first to receive Tulsi’s medicine through sound and breath, then to embody it through music, movement, and communal integration.
Guests may join one portion or move through the full journey.
Your Gathering Experience
Portals: Nectar — Tulsi
6:00–8:30 PM | Art & Music Room
Nectar is the receiving.
This seated, immersive wellness experience is designed to soften the body, quiet the mind, and open the sensory field.
Guided by Shay (sound bowls + breathwork) and Andrew (live cello), Nectar unfolds slowly and intentionally. Gentle breathwork supports nervous system regulation while layered crystal bowls and live cello move through the body, creating space for release, reflection, and deep listening.
Throughout the journey, you’ll be introduced to Tulsi’s lineage, energetic qualities, and traditional uses, and you’ll receive a handcrafted Tulsi medicine bag to carry the plant’s wisdom forward.
This portion is grounding, spacious, and restorative — a place to arrive fully.
Transition
After Nectar, guests are invited upstairs to Firn, allowing the medicine to move from stillness into expression.
PORTALS: Bloom — Tulsi
9:00–11:00 PM | Firn Rooftop
Bloom is the embodiment.
Bloom features live music by Soulology, led by Grammy Award–winning musician Medearis Dixson.
Their sound is fluid, soulful, and alive — inviting organic movement, release, and collective rhythm. Guests are welcome to dance, sway, or simply feel the music move through them. A curated Tulsi-inspired cocktail or mocktail anchors the experience in taste and celebration.
Bloom is joyful, grounded, and expansive — a shared integration under the night sky.

Why a Residency
This Portals residency at Populus is an ongoing invitation — not just to attend an event, but to return to a rhythm.
Each gathering will honor a different plant ally, season, and sensory doorway. Tulsi opens the portal — welcoming us into a shared practice of care, connection, and embodied presence within this space.
About PORTALS
Portals are plant-centered gatherings for play, peace, and deep connection. Rooted in somatic healing, these immersive experiences invite you to soften, slow down, and awaken your senses. Each Portal is an embodied exploration of a plant’s essence — a living dialogue between sound, movement, ritual, and presence.
You’re not just attending.
You’re arriving.
