The Kevin Prater Band is excited to be included as part of this amazing lineup of great bands to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Poppy Mountain Music Festival.Kevin Prater began his professional musical journey at age seven. Now in his 42nd year sharing his many talents that have allowed him to entertain in 24 countries and 49 states. Kevin has shared the stage with many legends of bluegrass including 12 years with The James King Band, earning two "Album of the Year", a "Song of the Year" titles from SPBGMA and a "Recorded Event of the Year" title from IBMA. Kevin was also nominated as "Banjo Player of the Year" during a three year stint with The Bluegrass Brothers.
Currently in his 15th year leading KPB throughout the USA and Canada, preparing to release the bands sixth CD "Red Rocking Chair". Their "All I Ever Wanted" CD released in 2018 reached #21 on the Roots Music Charts and finished the year at #65 of the top 200 for the year.
In addition to Kevin on mandolin, completing the bands unique "Coal-Fired, Pure Kentucky Bluegrass" sound, Jake Burrows on banjo & dobro, Gary Isenhour on Guitar, both from NC. On fiddle, Mallory Hindman and Alex Donahue on Bass, both from WV.
