Old Spot (Rowan Piggott & Joe Danks) burst onto the scene in 2023 with a critically acclaimed debut album and a whirlwind UK tour, quickly establishing themselves as a fresh force in old-time music. Praised for their raw energy and expressive musicianship, the duo lit up stages across UK/EU folk, bluegrass, and old-time festivals.Joe and Rowan will be sharing the joy of old-time music, teaching appalachian tunes and some of the idiomatic playing styles that make them come to life. Learn about the history of this musical melting pot whilst picking up a tune or two along the way.
- all instruments welcome, may be a bit string specific but hopefully interesting to everyone.
- no previous old-time music experience required
- teaching by ear, sheet music available afterwards!

THIS IS PART OF A FOLK DAY OF FINE MUSIC with lots of opportunities to listen and to participate. Tickets are available for individual concerts/workshop, All Afternoon and All Day.
1.45 - 3pm 'Old Time Music' Workshop with Old Spot.
3.30 - 5.30pm Afternoon concert headlined by Old Spot, with support from Poppy friend Dan Kittmer, and Derbyshire band Rakestone Trio.
5.30 - 7.00 Join in the bar session, led by Jim Hellewell - FREE
7.30 - 9.45 Evening concert with Irish traditional band Gatehouse..
9.45 - 11 Round off the night with a singaround/tunes in the concert room - all welcome to participate or listen FREE
