Pop-up Turtle Walk, Sea Turtle Nesting Experience

Come experience the tranquil beauty of a loggerhead sea turtle nesting on the beach at night. Our biologists will educate participants on the sea turtles that nest along our coastline and inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation for our natural beach and dune systems. Participants will then be led onto the beach, under the direction of our biologists, to quietly observe a loggerhead sea turtle nesting and returning to the ocean ensuring minimal disturbance to the sea turtle …an experience unlike any other in our area. Please be aware of the following details before signing up:

Basics

· The once in a lifetime chance to watch a nesting loggerhead sea turtle

· The evening will begin with guests participating in a prerequisite informative presentation about the threatened and endangered sea turtles that nest in Palm Beach County

· The evening may run as late as midnight (our biologists must wait for a loggerhead to come into the event zone and begin the nesting process prior to bringing guests onto the beach)

· There is no guarantee of seeing a turtle

· Event will take place rain or shine but will be cancelled in the event of lightning (no rescheduling)

· Participants may need to walk up to a half mile in the dark on the beach, in potentially hot and humid conditions over tough terrain including uneven surfaces, rocks, shells and seaweed (please be SURE you are confident you can handle this experience)

· Wear comfortable clothing and keep in mind that there may be bugs. CLOSED TOED SHOES ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT. Dark clothing is preferred to minimize the impact on nesting sea turtles. Bring your reusable water bottle. Water will be provided, but single-use plastic cups will not!

· No lights are allowed (no cell phones or photography during the event)

· Registration is limited to the first 25 people to sign up

· May not be suitable for children under 8

· Nighttime turtle walks are conducted by authorized personnel who work under a marine turtle permit issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, MTP-017. Staff follow state regulations to ensure the safety of the sea turtles.

· CHECK YOUR EMAIL THE DAY OF THE EVENT FOR SPECIFIC INFORMATION ON WHERE TO ENTER CARLIN PARK...ONLY ONE ENTRANCE WILL BE AVAILABLE TO TURTLE WALK GUESTS AND ALL GATES WILL BE CLOSED AND LOCKED DURING THE EVENT.

**PLEASE NOTE if you register for a ticket(s) and are unable to make it you will need to cancel your reservation. If you choose to NO SHOW without cancelation you will be unable to register with us for future Turtle Walk Events. These FREE events have a large waitlist so to be fair to all of those on the waitlist we do not want any spots going unfilled the night of. Thank you for your understanding**
