Pop Up Trail Party!
New Orleans–based artist MeLissa Kossick will lead the community in a playful, interactive art experience celebrating creativity, connection, and movement. Inspired by Mardi Gras traditions, Trail Party! transforms a familiar path into a whimsical parade route where kids feel like parade royalty and adults are encouraged to play.
Schedule:
4:30 pm – Costume & Custom Headpiece Workshop
Create bold, one-of-a-kind costume pieces inspired by Mardi Gras culture. Participants can make headpieces, decorate bike helmets, modify sunglasses, and design trail-friendly costumes. Supplies available while they last.
5:45 pm – Trail Party! Parade Line-Up
Bring a costume, make one at the workshop, decorate your bike, or walk the route. Participants can borrow pieces from MeLissa’s New Orleans costume collection while supplies last. Bikes and helmets encouraged.
6:00 pm – Trail Party! Parade Send-Off
Depart from the bandshell, travel along the new West Lake Drive path, loop back, and return to City Park for the Trucks & Tunes after-party.
Weather permitting, MeLissa will also bring her giant puppets, “Kaleidoscope, 2026,” to join the celebration.
This event is FREE and open to the public.
Presented in partnership with the Historic Holmes Theatre, Project 412, LAMBAT, and the Becker County Trail Alliance.
