Join us for a very special XMAS SALSA PARTY IN THE PARK on Sun 15 Dec, featuring live Cuban band VIVIO & FRIENDS on the magical Maungawhau/Mt Eden. They'll be performing our favourite Cuban and Latin tunes for social dancing, including: Salsa, Son, Cha-Cha, Bolero, Merengue and more. Plus, expect some Follow Me and Rueda with maestro Vivio.Everyone is welcome! Come and enjoy dancing on the stage within the great outdoors, or bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the live music.
LOCATION:
The Stage, Tahaki Reserve, 250 Mt Eden Road, Mt Eden.
DIRECTIONS: There is a free car park at the southern end of Tahaki Reserve. The car park entrance is about 50m down Mt Eden Rd from Puhi Huia Rd (the main road that goes up to the summit). The timber stage, where we are dancing, is just next door to the car park and you will hear the music and people!
WHAT TO BRING?
— Your good self + friends and family!
— $20 Social dancing with follow me, Rueda and more, 3-5pm
— Drinks, water and food.
— Practical shoes.

TOILETS:
There are public toilets in the playground 5 mins walk away. If you need sustenance, there is a Subway and bottle shop 5 mins walk away on View Rd.
YOUR HOSTS:
The Cuban Groove offers dance classes, workshops, performances, parties, pop-ups, flashmobs, follow me dances and music gigs in Auckland and around New Zealand. Maestro Isbert Ramos Mediaceja, AKA Vivio, is professionally trained at Cuba's national performing arts school, ENA, and is a legend in the NZ Salsa scene, having taught many teachers and 1,000s of students around Aotearoa for the past 22 years. He has performed in and choreographed dance productions that toured the world, including the acclaimed Lady Salsa, and his own show that toured Aotearoa, Cuban Carousel. He is supported by his partner Justine and other senior dance students.
HONOURING OUR VENUE
We recognise the mana of tangata whenua embodied within the history of Maungawhau. We pay our respects with aroha, positive vibes and by sharing Afro-Cuban music and dances with the community who are welcome to join in.
