Are you dreaming about a summer sport like soccer or golf but sad because it’s the middle of winter? Do you enjoy building creative sculptures out of snow and other materials? Well, we have great news for you! Join us in the park for a day of frozen footgolf—where you and a team of friends are invited to sculpt your own minigolf-scale hole out of snow and other materials you might bring (for ideas, see below), then play a round of footgolf to test your skills through the full course of holes we create! Drop-in anytime to join in the fun of making a golf hole from 11AM-2PM, or playing through the course from 2-3PM. All Ages. Free. What is footgolf?
Instead of using a golf club to putt a golf ball into a cup, you use your foot to kick a soccer ball into an oversized hole!
What should I bring?
Building teams will be provided with their own area (roughly 10'x10') as well as a tee-off mat and portable footgolf hole to install in your space. If you are building a hole, we recommend bringing your own tools for sculpting snow, plus any props, obstacles, or other materials you would like to use in creating an exciting and imaginative hole (please note: any materials you bring to build your hole must be left up in place through Sunday, February 2nd, as our course will be a feature at the Midwinter Melt public event!). Props may include items such as: old holiday decorations and Christmas trees, plastic sleds, inflatables, buckets/plant pots, garden fencing/plant cages, etc. (Silverwood will have a limited supply of materials on-hand including: pool noodles, snow sleds, wood blocks and posts, vinyl banners/yard signs to share).
Do I need to stay for this entire event?
No! This is a drop-in event. Everyone is invited to come and stay for any of the activities—whether that is just to build a footgolf hole between 11AM and 2PM and/or playing through the holes from 2 to 3PM! However, if you absolutely plan to build a hole, it is a good idea to arrive closer to 11AM in order to get checked in, assigned to an area, and to have plenty of time to sculpt. Builders who arrive late may still be paired with an existing team to help construct an in-progress hole.
Schedule of activities:
11AM-2PM, Team check-in opens, course building begins
2-3PM, Open tee times and course play!
This installation will be in place for one week, and you can join us on Sunday, February 2nd, from 5-8PM and take another chance to experience frozen footgolfing at night during the Midwinter Melt event, as part of The Great Northern Festival, when the course will be illuminated with dazzling lights!
