As a part of Fernfest, City of Victoria Artist in Residence Kemi Craig invites you to a pop-up family dance!Come enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of music, dancing and laughter. Get ready to groove to the beats and show off your best dance moves. This event promises to be a blast for the whole family. Everyone is welcome.
Kemi is a local artist who grew up with dance as a part of family life, playing records and dancing after dinner and at family gatherings. As a part of her residency, she would like to gather in-community with other families and move together. Kemi will offer a mini dance lesson at the beginning of the event.
The dance will centre around the youngest members of the family first and use the music to engage various age groups so that the afternoon moves from preschool and on up through the generations.
During the dance, award winning DJ Nova Jade will play a mix of their own choices and a community playlist. Email [email protected] with the subject line "Pop-up Family Dance" to submit your favourite songs, until 4 p.m. on June 7.
