About this Event

Join us for a bird walk at a getaway in the middle of everything!

Glover Archbold Park is a gorgeous 183-acre park with a trail that connects to the C&O Towpath.

Know before you go ... please review the info below for more details about this event.

See you outside!

Please do not bring unregistered guests. It is unfair to your fellow birders on the waitlist and unfair to our volunteer guides. If you are on the Waitlist and have not received an email that a space has opened, unfortunately we're at capacity and can't add more to our flock for this walk.

CANCELLATION: The walk will proceed in rain (best time to bird!), but will be cancelled in the event of heavy downpours or thunderstorm; cancellation will be emailed at least 2 hours before meeting time. So please check before you head out.

WHAT TO BRING / PARK INFO:

  • Sunscreen / Sun Protection
  • Insect Repellant
  • Comfortable footwear to walk or hike. The trail can be pretty uneven at times, and has some steps. At one point there is also a very small/shallow stream that sometimes requires stone-stepping to cross if the water is flowing.
  • Water and snacks
  • If you have binoculars, please bring them.
  • On-street parking is available. Please be mindful of any signage.
  • Restrooms are not available on the route.

WHERE TO MEET: We're meeting at Glover Archbold Trail, north end, coordinates are: 38.943074, -77.078481. Closest street cross-section: Van Ness Street NW & 40th Place NW; Closest metro: Tenleytown-Au stop, about a 10 minute walk north.
